About

A quiet room, built for one purpose.

This is an independent Christian site. It exists so that someone carrying guilt, shame, or a sin they cannot seem to put down has somewhere to say it to God, plainly and in private, and then hears what God has already said in reply.

Everything here rests on what the Bible teaches: that there is one God in three persons; that Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, that he died for our sins and rose bodily from the dead; that we are forgiven by grace alone, through faith in him, not by anything we do; and that Scripture is the final authority on all of it. Where faithful Christians differ on secondary questions, we say so and describe the main views fairly. We do not attack any church or tradition.

What this site is not

It is not a sacrament. For Roman Catholics, sacramental confession is made to a priest; nothing here replaces that. It is not therapy or counselling, and the writing companion is not a person. It cannot diagnose, treat, or care for you. When a subject touches on abuse, addiction, self-harm or suicide, we say clearly that you should reach a person, and we list real emergency lines.

It is not a church. Confession to God is where healing begins, but Scripture also tells us to confess to one another and to pray for one another. A website cannot lay hands on you, share bread with you, or notice when you have gone quiet. Please find a church.

How the writing space works

The writing space on the home page is a companion we call Listener. It is a computer program that responds to what you write by pointing you to Scripture. It never speaks as God, never pretends to be a priest or a counsellor, and never pronounces anything over you. Conversations are not read by people and are automatically deleted within 24 hours. There are no accounts, no tracking scripts, and no email capture on this site. The details are on the privacy page.

Scripture

Bible quotations are from the Berean Standard Bible, which has been placed in the public domain by its publishers. Every quotation on this site is checked word for word against that text before it is published; we do not paraphrase and present it as Scripture.

Contact

If you find an error in a quotation, a broken page, or something that reads as unkind or untrue, write to contact@confess.help. We do not reply to requests for personal counsel; that is what your pastor, priest, or a qualified professional is for, and they will do it far better than an email could.
